A coin toss decides which team bats first. The toss winner chooses to bat or bowl. The batting team sends two opening batsmen to the crease, and the bowling team selects a bowler to start the first over.
Scoring Runs
Batsmen score runs by running between the wickets after a legal delivery. 4 runs if the ball reaches the boundary, 6 if it clears on the full. Runs from overthrows also count. On odd runs, batsmen swap strike.
Dismissals
A batsman is out when one of these occurs: Bowled, Caught, LBW, Stumped, Run Out, Hit Wicket, Obstructing the Field, Mankad, or Retired Hurt. On a wicket, a replacement batsman comes in. The new batsman starts on zero runs.
Dead-Ball Wickets
Bowled, Caught, LBW, Stumped, and Hit Wicket are dead-ball dismissals — the ball is dead the moment the wicket falls. No runs can be scored on these deliveries. Only the striker can be out in these modes.
Run Out & Mankad
Run Out can happen to either batsman when the bails are removed while they are out of their crease. Mankad is a run out at the non-striker's end if the non-striker leaves the crease before the ball is bowled. Runs completed before a run out still count.
Wide Ball
A delivery out of the batsman's reach is a Wide. 1 extra run is awarded and it does not count as a legal ball. Valid dismissals on a wide: Run Out, Stumped, Hit Wicket, or Obstructing the Field. Bowled, Caught, and LBW are NOT possible.
No Ball
An illegal delivery (front-foot overstep, high full-toss, etc.). 1 extra run is awarded and it does not count as a legal ball. All runs the batsman scores off a no-ball are credited to their personal score. Valid dismissals: Run Out, Mankad, or Obstructing the Field.
Free Hit
The delivery immediately after a no-ball is a Free Hit. The batsman cannot be dismissed except by Run Out, Mankad, or Obstructing the Field. All other dismissal modes (bowled, caught, LBW, stumped, hit wicket) are not out. The free hit ends after a legal delivery.
Bye & Leg Bye
Byes are runs when the ball misses both bat and body. Leg Byes are runs when the ball hits the body but not the bat. Neither counts as a legal ball. On a Bye, valid dismissals: Stumped, Run Out, Hit Wicket, Obstructing Field. On a Leg Bye, Stumped is NOT possible.
Over & Bowler Rotation
An over has 6 legal deliveries. A different bowler must bowl each over. After the over, the batting strike rotates. Wides and No Balls do not count toward the 6 legal balls. If no alternative bowler is available, the same bowler continues.
Innings & Match End
An innings ends when all overs are bowled, the batting side is all out, or (in 2nd innings) the target is chased. After the 1st innings, a break is shown and teams swap roles. The side scoring more runs at match end wins.
Last Man Standing
Per-team toggle in Squad tab. When enabled, the innings continues until only one recognised batsman remains. When disabled (standard mode), the team is all out when 10 wickets fall. Useful for recreational matches with small squads.
Retired Hurt & Substitutions
A batsman can voluntarily retire hurt via the right-click menu. Retired players cannot return. Batsmen can be swapped from the player list (right-click), and the bowler can be changed mid-over via the same menu.
Strike Rotation
The striker changes on odd runs (1, 3, 5) and at the end of each over. Batsmen can also be manually swapped via the Swap Batsmen button. The non-striker becomes the striker when the strike rotates.
Match Log & Scoring Summary
Every delivery is recorded in the match log with runs, extras, and wicket details. The Summary tab shows full batting and bowling statistics. A green bottom-border graph on the Score tab visualises scoring per over.
